REPORT ON ORDINANCE 22 OF 1897.

I have examined the accompanying Ordinance,

"An Ordinance to apply a sum not exceeding

Two Millions Three hundred and Forty-three thousand

Seven hundred and Thirty Dollars to the Public Service

of the Year 1898,"

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not

contrary to the Governor's Instructions.

The contribution to the Imperial Government

in aid of Military expenditure, is not included, as its yearly

appropriation is provided for by Ordinance 21 of 1896.
